"I shouldn't have liked it – but I did."

That was the verdict from TV's Simon Cowell last night as a South Staffordshire grandmother became the nation's guilty pleasure with her rock 'n' roll organ playing.

Dressed in one of the flamboyant spangly jackets that are fast becoming her trademark, Jean Martyn from Brewood won a place in the live final of Britain's Got Talent.

The former music teacher sailed through with Wolverhampton schoolboy MJ Mytton-Sanneh, who topped the public vote with his boyband New Bounce.

Speaking from her hotel in London today Jean, who will travel back to her home in Brewood this evening before returning to the capital tomorrow to prepare for Saturday's final, said the show had been "a whirlwind".

The grandmother-of-two put on a dazzling foot-stomping display last night accompanied by burly male dancers.

And the ex-music teacher, who worked at Cannock Chase High and Huntingdon primary schools, admitted she was yet to come down to earth today.
