Two armed men robbed a security van as it called at a bank in Wolverhampton.
The raiders, one possibly armed with a gun and the second with a knife, struck at around 2.30pm yesterday outside Barclays Bank, in Stafford Road, Bushbury.
Police say the two men, who were wearing balaclavas, snatched a cash box containing a substantial quantity of money, from a security guard outside the branch.
The men were able to empty the cashbox and flee in a red car.
West Midlands Police today said no shots were fired, and the security guard was taken to hospital but is not thought to be seriously injured. The bank was sealed off as officers investigated.
The drama unfolded just days after the theft of a bag of cash being carried by a security van guard outside the Nationwide, in Finchfield Road West, Finchfield, on Monday. Three men were arrested following that robbery.
