A landmark rock 'n' roll venue in the Black Country is to be sold for almost £1 million.

The Regis Suite, Cradley Heath, famed for its live music nights during the swinging sixties, has been put on the market for £900,000.

Owners Tony Billingham and Carole Jenkins saved the Old Hill building in 2008 when they bought the restaurant and music venue from Sandwell Council at auction for £500,000.

It was given a £250,000 refit and has since hosted dinners, business meetings, live music events.

One show was by cockney musicians Chas 'n 'Dave. Wedding celebrations have also been held at the venue.

Mr Billingham would not comment on the sale today.

The Regis is being sold by the Birmingham office of Christe+Co.
