This was the scene as a car skidded off a busy road and crashed through two front gardens in the Midlands.

Residents in Hoo Road in Kidderminster were left shocked after the maroon Peugeot 307 came off the road, struck two gate posts, smashed into a fence and ended up in an allotment.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was travelling with three passengers, believed to be his wife, daughter and grandson.

The man and one of the women were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester for minor injuries.

Office worker Darren Ellis, aged 40, whose gates and fence were wrecked in the crash, said he was shocked when his neighbour called to tell him what had happened.

"She said she heard a loud bang. It seems the car had mounted the kerb, snapped one of the gate posts, hit the other gate post then gone though the garden and into next door's allotment. I couldn't believe it. Fortunately no one was in the houses at the time or it could have been worse."

The crash happened at around 11.30am yesterday and police were called.
