More "topple tests" are being carried out on headstones at Dudley's seven cemeteries to ensure graves are safe to visit.
Headstones at Gornal Wood, Stourbridge and Dudley cemeteries are being tested by hand.
The tests are being carried out to see if they are stable before workers move onto other sites in the borough. So far almost 1,800 have already been shored up using a ground anchor.
The checks were first launched in 2007 on larger memorials in response to Government guidelines.
The costs of the headstone repairs will be met by the council.
