The multi-million pound transformation of two Wolverhampton schools is taking shape, as these new pictures show.

Two large cranes have moved onto the site of the new Highfields Science Specialist School and Penn Fields School in Penn, with much of the steel structure now in place and concrete frames going up.

Both schools are being totally rebuilt as part of Wolverhampton's £270million Building Schools for the Future programme.

The two schools will be separate, but will share the 17,500sq metre building and some of the facilities, including science, sports and specialist performance spaces and learning resources.

Construction work on the two schools off Birches Barn Road is due to be completed by September 2012 and will pave the way for the rebuilding or refurbishment of a further 22 schools and two new academies.
