More than 60 drain covers worth £18,000, which were stolen in a single night from a Midland town, have been recovered by police.

More than 60 drain covers worth £18,000, which were stolen in a single night from a Midland town, have been recovered by police.

Officers in Stourport found the cast iron grates during a search of commercial premises on the Hoobrook Industrial Estate in Kidderminster.

The grates were taken from streets around Stourport including Broach Road, Britannia Gardens and Resolution Way, overnight on Tuesday.

All 65 stolen covers were recovered during the search on Thursday and were collected by Worcestershire County Council highways staff yesterday.
