This was the scene after a car crash in Darlaston that ended with one vehicle on top of the other.

A teenage driver was taken to hospital after the two-car crash in Midland Road at 5.55pm yesterday.

The 19-year-old man was found unconscious on the road by emergency services and was taken to Wolverhampton's

New Cross Hospital with a suspected broken leg. West Midlands Police spokeswoman Hilary Hopker today confirmed the man's leg was not broken, just badly swollen.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Chris Kowalik described the other motorist as "walking wounded" who refused hospital treatment.

The cars, a grey Toyota and a silver BMW, also collided with a lamp post in the smash.

A rapid response vehicle and ambulance were sent to the scene and Midland Road was closed at its junction with The Green until 8.10pm. Police investigations are continuing and anyone with information can call them on 0345 1135000.
