Tickets for The Soulicious Tour do not go on sale until Sunday but, armed with sleeping bags and thermals, a small but determined group are aiming to secure the best seats for the October shows.
Among those camping out is 35-year-old security guard Alison Hadley, of Queen Mary Street in Walsall. The mother-of-one was one of the first to arrive.
"Camping out is all part of the experience," she said. "You have the excitement of being with other fans."
Part of the NEC car park has been set aside for the campers and security guards are patrolling.
Wife and husband Sally and George Rab set up their tent on Sunday after travelling from their home in Fradley, near Lichfield.
Mrs Rab, aged 52, said she had seen Sir Cliff hundreds of times.
