Pensioner dies after car crash

A pensioner died today when a car he was driving crashed into railings in Dudley.

The accident happened at the junction of Halesowen Road, Saltwells Road, and Cole Street Netherton, just before 11.30am.

A police spokesman said the man, aged 72, was taken to Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, following the collision but was dead on arrival there.

Police sealed off the crossroads after the accident near the Aldi store.
