A punter was caught with his trousers down when police raided a suspected brothel in Wolverhampton city centre.

Officers raided the flat on Albion Street, on the edge of Horseley Fields, and found a man and a woman in a compromising position.

Two women were arrested on suspicion of managing a brothel following the raid, which happened just before 6pm yesterday. The women, aged 52 and 31, remained in custody today. The man was not arrested.

Five officers from the Heath Town neighbourhood policing team took part in last night's operation.

Wolverhampton police spokesman Lee Page said: "The warrant was carried out following reports from the local community about prostitution and sex workers in the area."

Residents began moving into the upmarket flats, which were billed as the "urban dream made real", in 2005. Councillor Milkinder Jaspal, whose Heath Town ward covers the flats, said:

"It is a concern that this is taking place in a relatively new development and it's not going to attract families to it in the future.

"I've not had any complaints about the issue, but it is a very secretive thing."
