The parents of stabbed schoolgirl Chloe West today thanked students and teachers who ran to her aid after she was injured near her Stourbridge school.

The 14-year-old is recovering at home after being discharged from Birmingham Children's Hospital

yesterday.

She was stabbed in the upper body and face outside Ridgewood High School in Wollaston on Friday morning.

Her father Nigel West today thanked her fellow pupils, including 16-year-old Ben Hudson and teacher David Stus, who helped her in the moments after the attack.

He added: "The surgeons have done a remarkable job of closing Chloe's wounds and are confident of a good recovery.

"However, whilst the physical scars may fade, the memories of the day's events will remain forever."

A Facebook page has been set up in honour of schoolboy Ben and people have been posting messages congratulating him on his bravery in going to Chloe's aid.

Sam Tomlinson, aged 18, of Turls Hill Road, Sedgley, was last night charged with attempting to murder Chloe.

He is also accused of wounding one of her fellow pupils.

He will appear at Dudley Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
