Pupils at a South Staffordshire school hit all the right notes when they scooped four awards at a recent singing contest.

Youngsters from the under-8s choir, junior choir and senior choir at St Dominic's High School for Girls, in Brewood, each won awards at the Dudley Festival, beating off competition from schools across the Black Country.

The senior choir also won an overall youth division award at the festival.

Emma Carter, from the school, said today: "We have about 100 youngsters aged from eight right up to 18 that take part in the choirs and we're immensely proud of the achievements of the pupils.

"They've performed beautifully to win these awards. One of the judges actually commented that you should never sing louder than beautiful and it is clear that the three choirs managed that by winning these awards."

To win their awards, the choirs had to perform two songs in front of an adjudicator, who then judged and offered a critique on the performances.

Dudley Festival took place throughout March.
