A cannabis factory has been uncovered in a council house in Wolverhampton.

Police executed a warrant at the semi in Ringwood Road, Bushbury, and found about 267 cannabis plants being grown in a downstairs room.

Officers raided the property following a tip-off. No arrests have been made.

A police spokesman said: "The electricity has been badly messed about with inside the house. The electricity company has had to dig up the road to sort out the supply before we can carry out a full search."

It was revealed earlier this month that £1.6 million worth of cannabis has been seized in the region in just three months. Police in Staffordshire discovered a cannabis factory in a building in Ounsdale Road, Wombourne, on Saturday.

Last week police discovered 23 plants at a house on Dunstall Road, Whitmore Reans.
