?Two men in Star Wars masks and brandishing metal batons tried to rob a West Midland cricket club.
The raiders, wearing dark clothing and Darth Maul masks — the Star Wars character with a red and black face — struck at Aldridge Cricket Club.
Two people were closing up in the early hours of yesterday when they confronted the robbers outside the back of the clubhouse in The Green, Aldridge.
The raiders tried to get into the premises but the men, aged 39 and 52, fought them off and were hit with the metals bars. The would-be robbers fled empty-handed in a silver saloon-type car.
The victims both needed hospital treatment for their injuries. The 39-year-old suffered arm injuries and severe bruising while the 52-year-old suffered bruising to his face and back.
Another man and a woman were also present at the time but were not hurt in the assaults.
Police described one of the men as between 5ft 10in and 6ft 3in, while the other was about 5ft 10in and slim.
Witnesses are urged to contact police on 0345 113 5000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
