A Stourbridge man struck his heavily pregnant girlfriend on two occasions and then attacked her again in front of the baby after she was born.
On one occasion Karl Newey hit his girlfriend so hard that he broke his finger and he was treated in A&E while she was in labour elsewhere in the hospital.
All three attacks happened when Karl Newey was demanding items to sell to fund his drug habit, Dudley magistrates heard
Newey, aged 30, of Trefoil Gardens, Amblecote, admitted assaulting his girlfriend, causing her actual bodily harm, on July 19, and beating her on August 27 on September 17.
Dudley magistrates sent him to Wolverhampton Crown Court for sentencing on April 7.
Miss Anjuli Shergill, prosecuting, said Newey and his girlfriend had been together since she was 17 and she was heavily pregnant when the first two offences happened.
Mr Kirandeep Soor, defending, said Newey and his girlfriend had been together "on and off" for six years but they had a lot of problems because of his abuse of drugs and her use of alcohol.
Mr Soor added that Newey had started taking cocaine at 17 and later took heroin.
He was now trying to come off drugs and the birth of his daughter had changed his life.
