A motorist from Brownhills appeared in court today accused of killing his passenger in a crash.
Daniel Baker, aged 26, of Hussey Road, appeared before Cannock magistrates following the death of Jason Evans from Burntwood.
Baker was committed to appear at Stafford Crown Court next Friday. He was given unconditional bail.
He is charged with causing the death of Mr Evans, of Hawthorne Crescent, Chasetown, by dangerous driving. He is also accused of causing death by careless driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit.
Baker was driving a Seat Ibiza which left the road and overturned in Hayes Way, Heath Hayes, near the junction with Eastern Way at 8.20pm on Wednesday.
Floral tributes to Mr Evans have been left tied to a crash barrier near the accident scene. They include messages naming him as Jay and Evo. It would have been his 27th birthday on Sunday.
A second passenger in the car was not injured.
