Four generations of a family came together to celebrate the 100th birthday of the oldest member.

Stella Greatbatch will be 100 tomorrow. Yesterday family members from all over the country travelled to Brookside House Residential Home on Eccleshall Road, Stafford, for an early birthday party. Mrs Greatbatch was presented with flowers, cards and gifts.

Her daughter Sandra Norris, who lives in Stafford, said her mum had been born in Wigan in Lancashire and had moved to Staffordshire in 1994 because she could not longer live at her own home.

She was at Naden House in Huntington at first and four years ago moved to Brookside House where she is the second oldest resident.

Also attending yesterday were Mrs Greatbatch's two granddaughters Lisa Martin from Hixon and Helen Conway from Chorley, near Wigan.

Mrs Greatbatch met her first great-granddaughter Eve Conway, who was born just 10 weeks ago.
