The family of a worker crushed to death under a ton of glass at a Wolverhampton factory today paid tribute to a "wonderful and caring man".

Father-of-five Alvin Osbourne, aged 47, died last Tuesday after suffering a heart attack following the accident at Glass Processing Wolverhampton Ltd, based in Heath Town.

His devastated sister Audrey McKoy, 48, who works in the x-ray department at New Cross Hospital, said the family was just coming to terms with his death.

Mr Osbourne, known as Ozzy to his friends, was brought up in Wolverhampton and lived in Bushbury all his life.

He worked at Glass Processing Wolverhampton Ltd for two years before leaving last year after suffering a mild stroke. He returned again in December.

Mr Osbourne lived in Sherbourne Road, Bushbury, and had five children, Natalie, 23, Lee, 23, Nathan, 21, Nicole, 19 and Shauneann, 15.

His partner of 32 years, Tina McLachlan, 49, a cleaner at New Cross Hospital, said today: "People that loved him will always keep him in their hearts."

His youngest daughter Shauneann added: "He was the best dad in the world. He always thought of others."

Liverpool FC fan Mr Osbourne had three grandchildren. Mrs McKoy added: "Alvin was well-loved and would do anything for you. The community loved him. He would do anything for his friends.

"He was a wonderful man and very caring.

"He also had a great sense of humour."

Mr Osbourne's funeral is taking place on March 4 at the God of Prophecy Church in Gloucester Street, Whitmore Reans, at 11am.

The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into his death.
