Thousands of pounds' worth of suspected stolen goods were recovered following a police raid on a house in Wolverhampton today.

Children's games, toys, a garden strimmer and dog leads were among the huge haul that was collected by officers during the raid, at a house in Caledonia Road, All Saints.

A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

The haul was being taken to Wednesfield police station for more investigations this afternoon.

Eight officers from Ettingshall police team stormed the house at 8.20am, following tip-offs from members of the public about a suspected stolen goods racket. Two police vans were parked outside the property, near Grove Primary School, and officers were seen piling in dozens of bags of recovered goods.

Pc Martin Heard said today: "We have executed a warrant issued by Wolverhampton Magistrates Court under the Theft Act and we have been searching a property.

"It is an intelligence-led operation and it has been a success.

"The place is just rammed full of stuff and we have recovered thousands of pounds' worth of property. "One man has been arrested and he is helping us with our inquiries." He said that no resistance had been encountered during the operation.

Other items recovered included an iPhone, a Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable movie discs.

One large white police van was driven away at about 11am having been filled with goods, while another remained while officers continued to bring out recovered items.

The first van was returned to the scene this afternoon as officers continued to bring out more stock.

A second property in the same street was also searched by police but no suspected stolen goods were found and no-one was arrested.
