A suspected drink-driver's car ploughed into a house in the Black Country today.

The black Seat Leon car careered through several garden walls before crashing into the front porch of a semi-detached house in Alexandra Road, Halesowen, in the early hours.

A woman living in the property is understood to have been in bed upstairs at the time and was not hurt.

The drama happened shortly after 1.30am.

The front door was smashed while debris from the house and the car caused damage to furniture inside.

Witnesses said there were two people in the car who left the scene.

Halesowen Fire Station watch commander Dean Yates said: "Thankfully no-one was walking past at the time and the occupier was upstairs."

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Joanne Hunt said: "A 23-year-old man from Halesowen has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink-driving and is currently helping police with inquiries."
