More than 20 caravans at a Midland holiday park were broken into during a single night and sentimental items including military medals, long-service watches and jewellery taken.

Thieves forced their way into 21 caravans in all. The owners have been left devastated after sentimental items, such as military medals and watches given for long-service, were taken.

They also made off with flat-screen televisions, laptop computers, gaming consoles, mobile phones and golf clubs.

The thieves struck at the Wyre Forest Caravan Park, in Sugars Lane, Far Forest, Bewdley, between 7pm on Friday and 10am the following day.

Police said the thieves had also taken an air gun stored in one of the caravans.

An investigation has now been launched by West Mercia Police and officers are urging witnesses, or anyone with information to come forward.

They can contact police on 0300 333 3000.

The owner of the caravan site, who did not wish to be named, said it was the first time anything like this had happened in 10 years.

"We do not normally have a problem with crime on the site."

Pc Ash Bloor said: "The road in only leads to the caravan park so we would urge anyone who was in the area on Friday night or Saturday morning and thinks they saw any suspicious activity to give us a call.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered items for sale like the ones stolen."

Wyre Forest Caravan Park, also known as Wyre Forest Holiday Village, is a holiday site offering both new and pre-owned static caravans for sale.

The park is open all year for holidays aside from one month during the winter when it closes.

There is a security barrier at both the entrance and exit, which can only be opened by access cards.
