A murder investigation was under way today after a man - thought to be a member of the forces - died from a head injury at a house in Wolverhampton.

Craig Glaze, aged 25, who is believed to have served in Iraq, was left with a head injury after an incident in Bushbury on New Year's Day.

A 24-year-old man, who was arrested near to the scene in Cromwell Road, was in custody on suspicion of murder after Mr Glaze died at the city's New Cross Hospital yesterday.

A post mortem was taking place today to determine the exact cause of death.

Friends on Facebook said he was a member of the armed services who had served in Iraq and also had a young son.

Det Insp Darren Crutchley, from the Wolverhampton team of the force CID, said today: "We are in the early days of this inquiry, and are keen to hear from anyone who was around Cromwell Road on Saturday lunchtime and who may have seen something that could prove vital to our investigation.

"A young man has lost his life, and his family are obviously devastated. We urge anyone who knows anything to come forward and contact the investigation team."

A resident, who asked not to be named, said: "I have lived in some pretty rough areas but this is a very quiet neighbourhood."
