More than 180 homes were in darkness after an underground cable blast.

Firefighters went to Huntlands Road, Hasbury, Halesowen, after reports of a "loud bang" before a power cut at about 9.43 last night.

Residents feared there had been a gas explosion but Central Networks engineers said a cable fault caused a fuse to blow.

They worked overnight but power to 186 customers in the area was still off today.
