A £20,000 reward was today being offered to help find the killer of Midland father Richard Deakin.
The reward was revealed as a televised appeal was made last night for help in finding the masked man who twice blasted the 27-year-old businessman in his bed with a sawn-off shotgun.
Det Ch Insp Dave Garrett, heading the murder inquiry, believes Mr Deakin's death at his home in Meadway Street, Chasetown, on July 5 was a contract killing with those behind the shooting linked to Tipton, Coseley and Wolverhampton.
Chilling CCTV pictures broadcast on BBC's Crimewatch and featured in yesterday's Express & Star show the killer walking into Mr Deakin's garden and house after his partner Megan had taken their two children to school.
Mr Garrett said she and the children had not returned to the house since the killing of Mr Deakin, who ran a skip hire firm in Walsall. "This has all the hallmarks of a contractural killing," he said.
"We need to find out why he was targeted."
