A remembrance tree of light service at Stourbridge's Mary Stevens Hospice has been cancelled due to the cold snap.
The event was due to take place at the hospice in Hagley Road tomorrow, but organisers said they had been forced to call it off due to hazardous conditions around the site.
Director of nursing and patient support services Jackie Kelly said: "It is with great regret that we have decided to cancel the Tree of Light Service.
"This decision has been made after careful consideration of the current conditions and the weather forecast for the weekend.
"We have considered all the options available to us in order to try and go ahead with this year's service – but have decided that the risks to individuals attending are too great.
"We know how important this service is to everyone and are aware that this cancellation will cause disappointment. We are sincerely sorry for the upset that the absence of the Tree of Light Service will cause."
The lights on the tree will be switched on at the hospice on Monday at 4.30pm.
A replacement service will now take place at St Marys Church, Oldswinford, in January. A date for the service will be announced soon.
