More than 100 people took place in a race and fun run at Tipton's Victoria Park.

About 40 people aged between seven and 70 took part in the 2.5km fun run before more than 120 runners competed in the 5km race yesterday.

Tipton Harriers organises the event annually and it is sponsored by Tipton and Coseley Building Society.

This year Tipton Harriers runner and teacher Phil Nicholls, aged 27, of Perton, broke a new record by completing the race in 14 minutes and 26 seconds - about 15 seconds faster than last year's winner. Cash prizes and vouchers were handed to winners and runners-up by West Bromwich West MP Adrian Bailey.

Chief executive of the Tipton and Coseley Building Society Chris Martin also ran in the race, placing 85th.

Andy Holden, organiser and membership secretary for Tipton Harriers, said: "It went very well. It was a nice day, cool but good conditions for running."
