King Edward VI College, in Stourbridge, has suspended a student amid allegations he was involved in the riot at the protest against university tuition fee rises in London.

The college, which teaches A and AS Levels to youngsters aged 16 to 18, is also investigating the alleged involvement of a tutor in forwarding an email, urging them to attend, even though it would count as an 'unauthorised absence'.

The principal of the college, Sharon Phillips, confirmed the suspension of the student after another member of staff drew her attention to "wanted" pictures issued by the Metropolitan Police.
