Police investigating the murder of a man, gunned down in a house in Bilston, arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of murder.

He was continuing to help officers with their inquiries this morning.

A mobile police incident support unit remains in Arthur Street where a 31-year-old victim, named locally as Lee Douglas, was shot in the head. A police tent was in the garden.

A post-mortem found the man died as a result of gunshot wounds. He was shot at the house, on the corner of busy Wellington Road, at about 12.30am on Thursday.

A police family liaison officer is understood to be working with relatives of Mr Douglas, but no other details about him were released.

More than 60 officers are working on the case.

They are following up lines of inquiry including claims a car was parked with engine running and headlights on yards from the scene, before speeding off.

The three-storey house is split into flats and bedsits.
