A driver was heard shouting: "You've done it, come on," to another man moments after a 31-year-old was gunned down at a Black Country house, police revealed today.

Detectives hunting the killer of the man, named locally as Lee Douglas, today revealed they were searching for a car seen near the scene at the time of the shooting in Bilston.

The driver was heard shouting to a man running towards the vehicle which then sped off.

The dark coloured vehicle was seen parked on the side of the road facing Bilston town centre with its lights on and engine running.

It had stopped in Wellington Road, Stow Lawn just yards from the house at the corner of Arthur Street where the victim was shot in the head around 12.30am yesterday.

The victim, a visitor to the property, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.

A post mortem was taking place today to establish the exact cause of death as forensic experts continued combing the murder scene for clues.

Officers have also been searching nearby Bilston Community Centre in Prouds Lane.

Det Supt Simon Hyde, who is among up to 60 officers involved in the investigation, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who saw a small black vehicle in Wellington Road or the surrounding area at approximately 12.30am on Thursday morning."

Police removed the cordon blocking busy Wellington Road around 8pm last night but Arthur Street continued to be sealed off.

Residents living close to the property where the body was found spoke of their shock.

And Pat McFadden, MP for Wolverhampton South East, said: "The number of murders in Bilston in recent times has really shaken public confidence."
