Olympic medallist Colin Jackson has appealled for the backing of Brummies as he prepares for the Strictly Come Dancing 2011 live tour.

Jackson, who was a runner-up in the hit television show in 2005, will be starring alongside soap stars Patsy Kensit, Tina O'Brien and Kara Tointon plus psychologist Pamela Stephenson and heart-throb Ricky Whittle.

Speaking at the NIA in Birmingham, he said: "I have been to Birmingham many, many times as an athlete and I think it's fantastic.

"I feel very much at home here.

"Spectators have always treated me very well.

"I am hoping the same kind of audience will turn up for the Strictly live tour when it comes to the NEC."
