Police were called when trouble flared at a fireworks event in Halesowen.

It is claimed a man was stabbed in the hand with a screwdriver as he protected a police officer at the event, at Halesowen Cricket Club, in Grange Road.

A 16-year-old girl was arrested by officers at the event at 9pm last night.

Meanwhile, fire crews in the West Midlands were called out 35 times on bonfire night-related incidents last night and Staffordshire reported being called out 33 times.

In Wolverhampton, crews were called to Tettenhall when a firework landed on a wooden verandah in Kendle Rise.

Flames destroyed the structure as crews from Fallings Park attempted to tackle the blaze which started at around 9pm yesterday.

Heavy rain kept many people indoors. The forecast for tonight and tomorrow is dry with frosty conditions.
