Tipton Town fans get cheap travel for Carlisle United FA Cup tie

Published

Tipton Town fans are being offered cheap travel for the club's momentous FA Cup first round clash against Carlisle.

The Tipton and Coseley Building Society, which has been the club's main sponsor for 16 years has agreed to subsidize coach costs for the first 250 fans, meaning it costs each person £10 rather than the usual price of £16.

"It is a fantastic gesture," said Tipton Town chairman Bill Williams.

"In the current climate, it costs a lot of money for fans to go and see a game.

"Once fans have forked out for the coach travel, the ticket and a programme then they're not going to have much change out of £50." A record-breaking crowd of 1,429 watched the team's historic 2-0 win over Sheffield FC at Tipton Sports Academy on Wednesday.

The result put the non-league side into round one for the first time in 62-years.
