Fans go crazy to get near Peter Andre

As thousands of screaming girls caused pandemonium to get near Mysterious Girl heartthrob Peter Andre - the question was, who needs Katie Price to pull in the crowds?

Queues of fans, some of whom had camped overnight, snaked around two Black Country shopping centres to get close to the Aussie singer when he dropped in to plug his new perfume.

But all conversation about his glamour model ex wife, children and personal life were off the table as fans and media were warned to keep the talk strictly to his new fragrance.

The singer, flanked by guards, arrived at the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton and Merry Hill shopping centre in Brierley Hill on Saturday to meet fans and sign autographs.

Barriers were put up to control the scores of girls who queued up in the rain, grasping CDs, perfume bottles and flowers to give to the Australian hunk.

The 37-year-old arrived in Wolverhampton 30 minutes late, but stayed until he saw all of his fans, some who had queued since 9pm on Friday night.

They chanted his name and stood on stairwells just to catch a glimpse of the star.

Andre was there to promote his new perfume - called Mysterious Girl.

He said: "It's great to be in Wolverhampton.

"I never expect many people to come but there is a great turnout here. My fans are crazy."

Superfan and mother-of-three Tina Lacy camped outside the Mander Centre from 9pm on Friday to make sure she got a glimpse of the star.

And the 32-year-old from the Lunt Estate in Bilston was the first person to meet him.

She said: "He signed my perfume bottle. I nearly cried when I saw him.

"I can't believe I've just met him."

Her friend Hannah Jeavons, 28, also from the Lunt Estate, said: "He was lovely.

"I didn't know what to say when I got in there, I just froze."

At Merry Hill shopping centre, hundreds queued to meet Andre, with some having got up at the crack of dawn to make sure they were first in line.

Fans armed with calendars, books and t-shirts to be signed, chanted "We Want Peter" as they waited for their first look at the star.

The screams were deafening when Andre finally appeared 45 minutes later than scheduled due to the big crowds in Wolverhampton.

One of the first to meet the star was 14-year-old Kayleigh Cadwallader, who was in the queue from 6am - almost 10 hours before the star arrived.

The Kingswinford School pupil said: "He is really gorgeous.

"I can't believe I've met him. I couldn't stop shaking."

Nurse Carol Eacock, 38, travelled all the way from Droitwich, Worcestershire.

She added: "I got up at 3.30am to make sure I got to Merry Hill in time but it was worth it.

"I love everything about Peter, his music and now his perfume."

Andre wrote on his Twitter page: "Thanks Merry Hill. That was awesome."

Kelsey-Anne Hughes, aged 14, from Arps Road, Codsall, was there with around 10 of her friends and her sister. The St Peters Collegiate School pupil said: "Peter is awesome.

"I brought my iPod along for him to sign."

My family were all in bed when I left the house but I just love Peter and his music."

Her sister Lauren, 16, who studies child care at South Staffordshire College, added: "I love his music, his hair and his body. All my mates have been talking about this for ages. I can't believe here."

Student Kelly Crump, aged 21, from Droitwich, said: "I had been waiting for the chance to meet Peter for a long time.

"I can't believe my wish has come true. He is the most gorgeous man on the planet.

"It was well worth getting here so early to be at the front.

"I would have hated to be at the back of the queue," said her friend 21-year-old friend Melissa Randle.
