Youngsters from a Black Country primary school will see their stories brought to life as part of a project with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Pupils at Corngreaves Primary School in Cradley Heath are among 300 across the region who have been asked by the RSC to devise short plays that will be performed in Stratford-upon-Avon in December as part of an event called Writing On Your Feet.

Pupils at the school in Plant Street will be among the first writers to have their work performed on the stages of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Swan Theatre, which both re-open in late November after a £112.8 million transformation.

Each of the scripts will be inspired by a ghost scene from one of Shakespeare's plays and children are also taking part in workshops run by professional playwright, Tanika Gupta. The plays will be staged on December 7 and 9.

Other schools taking part are George Salter Collegiate Academy, Hateley Heath Primary School, Heath Park Business and Enterprise College, Little Bloxwich CE Primary School,

Perryfields Primary School, Queen Mary's Grammar School, Salisbury Primary School, SS Edmund and John's Primary School, and Whitehall Junior School.
