A thug who brutally beat up his "terrified" girlfriend with a metal bar before stabbing her in the face with a potato peeler has been jailed for eight years.
Ian Jones, aged 42, was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday.
Jones, of Lindon Close, Brownhills, held the peeler under the chin of Victoria Till after she told him she no longer wanted him in her life, causing a "nasty wound."
Jones had denied wounding his partner with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm but was found guilty by a jury.
The court heard Jones had been drinking heavily before going round to her home and he had armed himself with a metal bar
He then kicked in a door to get into her home before attacking Miss Thomas in front of her young son.
Mr John Evans, defending, said emotions were clearly running high at the time and he maintained there had been some provocation by the text message sent to Jones.
Judge Rosalind Bush said: "You are not remorseful for what you did and you are still trying to blame her for the incident."
