Seojin Kim named as Flintshire pool tragedy victim

A seven-year-old girl who drowned in a swimming pool while on a family holiday in North Wales was today named as Seojin Kim from Birmingham.

The youngster got into difficulties in the water.

Paramedics rushed to Talacre Beach Caravan and Leisure Park in Flintshire after the alarm was raised but the girl died later in hospital in Rhyl.

Police said the death was not suspicious and an inquest was opened today.

A police spokesman said: "The child from the West Midlands, who was on holiday with her family, was taken by ambulance to Glan Clwyd Hospital where she was pronounced dead."

Today's inquest opened at North East Wales Coroners Court in Wrexham

The pool at the park, which has won numerous was closed yesterday, with a sign apologising for any inconvenience.

The details of how the young girl, from Harborne, died on Saturday afternoon are unclear.

James McAllister, deputy managing director of Talacre Beach Caravan Sales, said: "We are doing everything we can to assist the authorities with their inquiries into this tragic accident."

"At this time our thoughts and prayers are with the family," he added.

Police said the Health and Safety Executive had been informed.
