A replica of an African village and woodland walk will be created in a planned £300,000 development at West Midland Safari Park.

It will feature new animals, including lemurs, meerkats and mongoose, which will be transferred from other parks.

The new attractions will be built on the existing goat park at the centre of the safari park in Bewdley.

Plans for the three-acre development have been submitted to Wyre Forest District Council and a decision is expected later this year.

It will create three new jobs for keepers to look after new animals and is due to be completed by next Easter.

Officials say they aim to create a little piece of Africa in Bewdley, with attention to detail including authentic materials used to create huts and walkways.Comments 3

Animal enclosures will be dotted around the village with outside viewing areas for visitors.
