They were christened as babies during the same ceremony at a Black Country church.

But no-one dreamed the two youngsters, whose families did not know each other, would one day fall in love and marry at the same church.

Adam Woodall and Katie Price were just months old when they were christened together at St Bartholomew's Church in Wolverhampton, on October 3, 1982.

As if by fate, their names even appeared next to each other on the order of service.

Katie, aged 28, said today: "I don't think many other couples could make the same claim. It was certainly mentioned a few times in the wedding speeches."

Following the christening, the pair did not cross paths until they both became pupils at Ounsdale High School, in Wombourne.

But they did not utter a word to each other during their school days and it was not until they were both 18 that Cupid struck - with a little help from Katie's sister Vicky Osbourne and best friend Louise Bunce. "Adam was in a pantomime on behalf of St Bartholomew's Church with a group called St Bart's Bards," said Katie, a commercial manager at Willenhall-based Nightfreight.

"I went to see the pantomime and it was kind of my sister and best friend that brought us together."

It was only when Katie went home and mentioned her new boyfriend to parents Stephanie and Gary that the link was uncovered.

"When I first came home to tell my parents I'd got a new boyfriend, they said they thought they knew of his parents and that's when the fact we had been christened together was first mentioned," said Katie.

"Our parents just knew of each other from living in the parish of St Bartholomew.

"When my grandma died, we were clearing out her stuff and we came across a copy of the parish newsletter she'd kept from when I was christened.

"She'd obviously meant to draw a box around my name but the box had also gone around Adam's name too. It was almost like fate."

So when Adam, a bank manager, popped the question after seven-and-a-half years together, there was no question about where they would tie the knot.

"We went straight to St Bartholomew's to book it," said Katie. "My parents and grandparents married there, and Adam's parents did too."

The new Mr and Mrs Woodall, who wed on August 21, are now settling down to married life in Hinstock Road, Penn.
