A Cannock restaurant has claimed to have created the world's biggest naan bread.

The Orbital Brewers Fayre, in Eastern Way, revealed the giant 10 foot by four foot creation which has a total area of 40 square feet - the equivalent of 167 normal size naan breads.

The record breaker is a traditional plain naan, made using an authentic recipe with a twist.

It includes more than 20 kilos of flour, five kilos of yoghurt, ghee and Kalonji seeds and weighs more than 40kg.

The giant naan took bakers more than five hours to make and eight staff to carry.

The all-conquering naan, which was enjoyed by the Brewers Fayre team, is believed to have smashed the previous record set by Asda in 2004 which measured 7.7 feet by 3.3 feet.

Brewers Fayre spokeswoman, Melanie Owen, said: "We are really excited to have created the biggest naan on earth and we can't think of a more fun way to launch our curry nights."

Brewers Fayre worked with naan bread specialists Honeytop Speciality foods to bake the giant naan.
