More than 900 homes and businesses were hit by a power cut in Wolverhampton today.

More than 900 homes and businesses were hit by a power cut in Wolverhampton today.

Energy firm e.on blamed the problem in the Penn area on a fault with a high voltage underground cable fault.

Streets affected by the failure include Goldthorn Hill, Witton Road, Alexandra Road, Belmont Road, Tudor Crescent, Goldthorn Road and Grange Road.

E.on engineers were at the scene this morning trying to fix the problem.

As of mid-morning, around 337 cust-omers had no electricity.

Company spokeswoman Alisha Allen said: "The power cut hit at 7.29am and 906 customers were affected. We managed to get a good chunk of these back on and our engineers are working to try and get it restored.

"We have been switching customers on to other parts of the network and apologise to customers for the inconvenience."
