A 46-year-old man from Cheslyn Hay has died in hospital from injuries he suffered when his van hit a tree near Penkridge.

A 46-year-old man from Cheslyn Hay has died in hospital from injuries he suffered when his van hit a tree near Penkridge.

John Allcock, of Spring Meadow, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham following the accident, which took place in Pottal Pool Road on Sunday morning.

He had suffered severe head injuries and multiple injuries.

He died in the hospital yesterday afternoon.

Mr Allcock was married with one daughter.

His father-in-law Colin Williams said that the family were very upset by his death and did not wish to make any comment at this time.

Mr Allcock was driving a grey Fiat Scudo panel van from Pottal Pool in the direction of Penkridge when the accident occurred just before 11.50am.

Pottal Pool Road was closed for some time whilepolice officers carried out a detailed investigation of the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident to come forward.
