Pupils returned to a Wolverhampton school today, three weeks after its roof was partially destroyed in a suspected arson attack.
Repairs were largely completed at Elston Hall Primary School, in Stafford Road, Fordhouses, in time for it to open its doors to 484 pupils.
The decision to reopen was not made until Friday. An 11-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the blaze has been bailed.
Repair work to fix the roof remains ongoing and is expected to continue for several months while portable classrooms have been brought on site to accommodate the returning children. Years of work was destroyed.
The fire started in the roof of the school and more than 100 residents watched in horror as the flames spread.
