Heartbroken staff at a charity shop in Wolverhampton are appealing for donations following a break-in over the weekend.

Thieves stole a computer, van keys, a chip-and-pin card machine and a table top safe in a raid on Sue Ryder Care, at the Avion Centre in Whitmore Reans, between Saturday evening and the early hours of Sunday morning.

A door and lock were also smashed during the raid, which has left staff trying to cover the cost of repairs through shop sales and donations.

Store manager Margaret Jinman said: "They have taken a computer, money, everything. We have got to pay for new locks and the door has got to be replaced."

The store sells books, clothes, CDs, DVDs and bric-a-brac to raise money for people with life-ending and long-term illnesses.

To donate goods visit the store or call 01902 713714. West Midlands Police spok-esman Steve Garey said no arrests had yet been made.
