And people living in the Penn area have now been warned that water could be cut off for up to 12 hours on another day this week and again in September.
Severn Trent is replacing ageing water mains in Penn as part of the project, which which will last until November next year.
Residents in Woodfield Avenue and Penn Road have been suffering problems with the water supply since last night, with some losing their water completely.
The problem was resolved at around 12.30pm but residents have now been warned of more problems to come.
Letters have been sent out in the area warning that water will be cut off sometime between 8am to 8pm for one day this week to allow for a water main connection.
Severn Trent said 70 customers were affected by today's problem. Spokeswoman Gill Dickinson said: "We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."
Residents living in Woodfield Avenue, Penn, have had their water supply affected several times in recent weeks.
