A cyclist killed in an accident with a skip lorry in the Black Country was a 16-year-old schoolboy just days away from collecting his GCSE results, it emerged today.
The victim, named locally as Tyron Allen, suffered serious injuries in the accident in Sandbeds Road, Willenhall, at about 10.30am yesterday.
Paramedics and police tried to save the youngster but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The popular teenager, who is thought to have lived in Ashmore Park, was due to pick up exam results at Coppice Performing Arts School in Wednesfield later this month.
Bouquets of flowers were today left at the scene, beneath a police sign appealing for witnesses to the accident.
One bunch, from Antony Adams, said: "Can't believe it. I'm shocked. I'm even more upset knowing that you had a great future ahead of you. This isn't fair. Rest in peace mate."
Another, from Callum Perry, said: "RIP Tyron. I'll never ever forget you. So many years of laughs and memories. It's so cruel."
Tributes have poured into a group set up on social networking site Facebook in memory of the student.
Sarah Rhodes wrote: "RIP Tyron, life is so unfair. You will never be forgotten," while Nicki Duggan added: "Sweet Dreams Ty. Our love to you and your family."
Police today issued an appeal for witnesses to the tragedy which happened as the skip lorry was travelling towards Bloxwich.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman John Hawker said "The man sustained serious multiple injuries.
"Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
No one else was injured in the crash.
