A local beauty spot in South Staffordshire has received national recognition by being awarded with the prestigious 'Green Flag' for a 12th consecutive year.

Baggeridge Country Park in Gospel End near Sedgley is one of just a handful of parks in the West Midlands to get the national award. Thousands of people flock to the popular beauty spot each year.

Baggeridge, which is run by South Staffordshire Council, has become a popular attraction for families over recent years with events including live concerts and a new aerial ropes adventure running throughout the year.

The Park also attracts thousands of walkers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Council bosses are also celebrating, after it was announced that the popular Wom Brook Walk in the nearby village of Wombourne will also retain its Green Flag status for a second year.

Awarded for the first time last year, the popular nature reserve attracts hundreds of walkers every year.

The Green Flag Award recognises the best green spaces in the country and are awarded on an annual basis.
