There were a number of serious crashes across the Black Country, Birmingham and Wyre Forest.
At 11pm yesterday, a family-of-five were taken to hospital after the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry on the M6 in Birmingham.
Paramedics were called to the southbound carriageway between Junctions 3 Corley and 4a, Coleshill.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Thomas said: "A man and woman in their 30s and their three children, two boys and a girl all under the age of 12, were in the car at the time of the crash.
"Crews assessed the family on scene and immobilised the man with a neck collar and spinal board as a precaution before he was transferred to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
"The woman and three children escaped with minor injuries and were taken to the same hospital for further assessment and treatment. The lorry driver was not injured in the crash."
Meanwhile, a man was taken to hospital after being knocked down by a car in Birmingham city centre. The 23-year-old was hit in Bromsgrove Street just before midnight on Saturday. Miss Thomas said: "Crews assessed and treated the man on scene and immobilised him with a neck collar and spinal board.
