Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a Staffordshire businessman have arrested two men on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Richard Deakin, aged 27, died after he was shot in the chest at his home in Meadway Street, Chasetown, on the morning of Monday, July 5.

The men, aged 22 and 23, from the Bilston area of Wolverhampton, were arrested at two addresses late yesterday afternoon and taken to a Staffordshire police station for questioning.

They were later arrested on suspicion to conspiracy to murder and were still in police custody this morning.

Staffordshire Police's Major Investigation Department has been co-ordinating inquiries.

Uniformed beat officers have been running high-visibility patrols in the Meadway Street area to reassure local residents.

Mr Deakin, who ran local firm On Time Skips, is understood to have moved in to the detached house around 18 months ago with his partner Megan and two daughters Ellie and Jessica.

He used to live in Station Road, in Cheslyn Hay, and was a pupil at Cheslyn Hay High School.

A post mortem has confirmed cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police today stressed that their inquiry is still ongoing and calls can still be made to 0300 123 4455.
