The man accused of murdering a Bilston father was today also facing charges of attempting to kill two other men.

Ricky Shaw was in the dock for the first time today having been arrested a week after the killing of 34-year-old Tom Berry in Bilston town centre outside a wedding party.

The 22-year-old also faces a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to his half-brother Adam Shaw, who was stabbed in the left leg during the disturbance on July 10.

Shaw, wearing a black t-shirt and jogging bottoms, appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.

He was arrested in Willenhall late on Friday.

Shaw, of no fixed address, today spoke only to confirm his name and address at the magistrates hearing.

He did not enter pleas to any of the charges he faces, including the murder of Tom Berry, the attempted murder of both Steven Howel and Talvinder Singh, the GBH charge or having an offensive weapon in a public place.

No application for bail was made and Shaw was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday.

Plasterer Mr Berry, aged 34, was described by his partner of five years, Avril Maxwell, 26, as a devoted family man.

The pair have two sons Owen, aged four, and six-month-old Elliot.

He died from a single knife wound in the chest during a disturbance on the street between the town hall and Spread Eagle pub.

Wolves fan Mr Berry had popped out of a reception, held to celebrate the marriage of his cousin at Bilston Town Hall in Lichfield STreet, for a cigarette when trouble flared, witnesses have told.

An inquest is expected to open later this week on Mr Berry.
